Out of sheer G.A.S., I'm thinking about adding an LA-3A or two to my rig. Are they discontinued?
Each day I grow more fond of UA analog .

The original LA-3A Leveling Amplifier made its debut at the 1969 NY AES show and marked the departure from the tube design of the Teletronix LA-2A Leveling Amplifier. The LA-3A incorporated components and design concepts from the Putnam-designed 1176LN Limiting Amplifier.

Probably not a big surprise but Universal Audio is releasing a reissue of the LA-3A. Read more here:

I`ve been messing around with the LA-3A from BF...i made i chain of plugs in my toms...gate>LA3A>FocusriteEQ

So in an attempt for trying to find the right "color" of compression for a certain type of vocal "sound", I thought I might ask: Would anyone care and try to attempt explaining the basic character differences between the LA-2A, LA-3A, and 1176LN and what type of instruments vocalists music you'd usually think to try each one on first during a mix?
