So ive been testing the Audix om5 against the sm58 with my voice and personally cant tell much of a difference. Then again I'm hearing this all through some Behringer headphones so it might just be me. Maybe i need to put more voices to the test to tell but the om5 doesnt seem to be worth twice as much as the 58.

And you are absolutely right! Besides, I don't think they are as rugged as an SM58? You're talking about a very well established track record for something that is almost universally accepted. I've come acrossed those AW-Dix microphones and I'm not that wild about them. Sure, some of them are all right but I'll take an SM58 any day. Like I've said numerous times, LESS IS MORE especially when it comes to spending your $$.
