Never even heard of Orion. You might look into Reaper. Other than that, there's Logic and Garageband. Oh, and Digital Performer.

Thanks, I will check out Reaper. Orion was originally put out by Synapse. It was a formidable application for all of my needs. And I have sampled a few others out there, but I can't remember the names (Reason?) is that one? Anyway, Reaper may be the ticket here. Garageband is always enjoyable to kill some time, but I find it a bit restrictive and remedial when it comes to creative control.

Thought it might help to drop a sample of the way I used to use the audio workstation before I switched to Mac. This is an all original song, I crafted, and I'm seeking a simple application for Mac that will allow me to continue in this semblance. Regards.

Anyway, I don't think Reaper is what you are looking for. I'm a happy Reaper user, but its very much a linear DAW rather than a pattern based all-in-one studio like Orion. I think Reason might be the only competition on the mac...

You could always dual boot into windows when you want to make music. :tongue:

You're right as rain on that point. :) I guess I could have researched the app a bit before switching. Then again, I was certain the software would work with either platform. I did once set up the parallel windows option; and Orion did run... but the nature of music creation (for me) is often memory and resource intense, and I never felt 'safe' running on the dual platform. Too risky for me. So be it. Time to learn something new.

I'm a PC and not particularly a Mac fan boi, but many many professional audio engineers dual boot Mac's and run DAW's on "Windows". There is no more reason for that to be a problem more than anything else-like the studio losing power. By all means though, try some new software. That is how we all learn and grow, by expanding what we know through experience. I think your biggest concern will not be the DAW software but learning your way around the Mac considering you've been on a PC all this time.

Orion is basically a sequencer with built in sound generators.

You probably already have Garage Band preloaded on your machine, Garage Band is basically a simplified version of Logic. http://www.apple.com/ilife/garageband/
It has builtin instruments and effects, based on the ones found in Logic Pro.
