Hi everyone. I'm in the market for live performance (weddings etc.) power amps. Carvin HD 1800 ($349) would be ideal. QSC carries its 2450 which runs for I believe $599. $400 is the most I can spend. How would you campare quality and durability of the two makes? Please elaborate on the subject. Thanks.

I would probably go with qsc. You could get an rmx 1450 for $399 and even if the carvin amp was 1800 watts it would serve no audible difference in terms of volume. QSC has got a killer deal going with the 6 year warrany until january. I just bought a 1450 rmx and the sound quality is definately on par with my crown microtech 1200 which cost twice as much. Carvin gear in my experience has been a hassle. I've never actually purchased any myself, but I've used plenty and I've seen my friends go through massive hassle of sending it back 2 and 3 times and continue to get damaged non-working or problemati units. Not only that but in my experience carvin flat out lieson their power ratings for speakers amps etc. Don't get me wrong I have used some carvin stuff that has worked great but so far I've seen more bad than good so i couldn't recommend it. I think qsc is top notch though. Especially for the price.

Power is not a commodity as the market would have you to believe. You have to let your needs dictate topology. QSC can be repaired just about anywhere in the USA by an authorized center, Carvin cannot. That would sinch it for me. QSC has a 6 year warranty going on.
Sonically, that would be for you to decide which is better.
