I was just wondering if anyone has a favourite mic preamp that is excellent for guitars. I've started to hear the difference quality pres make. But have also realised that each one is better for different things.
I have a Langevin Dual Mono Mic pre and it sound great but i find its to soft for certain types of guitars.

I also like to mix 2 different guitar preamp's, with 2 different type mics at 2 different locations
So I would do something like this....
1 API (up close with SM57)
and 1 Great River (a few feet back w/ KEL HM-1)
Or
1 Sebatron (up close w/ SM57)
and 1 Avalon U5 (as a DI)
both ways will get WAY different results
There are many variables
