Haven't heard a Presonus yet that's in the same zipcode.

You really shouldn't make a statement like this unless you've heard the adl. If you've heard it thats cool, but there isn't another presonus box that is anywhere close to what the adl has to offer. 6 tubes 600 volts and designed by an extremely well respected tube gear specialist. Every single person that I've talked to that owns one absolutely loves it.

I'll make any statement I please, thanks.
All advice here is to be taken with a grain of salt. He asked for opinions and I gave one. That's all it is... an opinion, and I stand by it.
No, I haven't heard the ADL, but I've owned/used a number of Presonus units and found them all to be basically noisy and low-end. It doesn't exactly instill me with a lot of confidence in the rest of their product range. And that's ultimately Presonus' problem, not mine.

And yes, I do own a Sebatron.

I just think if you heard the adl it may surprise you. On the flip side I've never heard a Seb but I've have heard its a pretty good piece. And I apologize I didn't really want to come off as trying to tell you what to do.

Theres always going to be some sticky sentiment here at this site regarding opinions of gear in an unheard state.

Its only logical that someone is going to call you on sweeping statements towards this end. And, in a perfect world, everyone would have experienced the piece in person before such pronouncements.

I understand a reluctance towards supporting something that has , in the past, not performed up to a certain task and thereby tends to taint any future consideration as far as sound and quality goes.

And this is ,of course, your right and your opinion based on these past experiences to voice such a concern.

Just dont be surprised when you get called upon to justify such a wide ranging and final statement such as that.

BTW...I havent heard an ADL either, but in researching it I find the topology of its design to be enough to want to hear it. Its sounds very promising.

No offence taken or intended in return.
The thing is, if the only people who responded to these questions are those who own both units in question, then there wouldn't be many answers given.
We can only give opinions based on what we do know.
That's why, as I said above, all opinions given here are to be taken with a grain of salt. Anyone who takes them as gospel is a little naive IMHO.

YMMV

Very well stated you're absolutely correct and again my apologies for coming off the way I did, it was just ignorant on my part.

So anyway...........

Alright.....kissy, kissy, hugs, hugs......friends again..........back on topic.

I haven't used the Presonus but it is supposedly a very high end unit that sounds very good.

Having owned and used various types or gear, having read about the the presonus and understanding what it is offering, owning a Sebatron, I was say this:

If you want a tube preamp that really sounds like a tube preamp, the Sebatron is really hard to beat. It is designed intelligently and has more features and versatility than you might imagine. It can be as simple as simple gets with one knob control or it can be much more flexible than many other preamps.

Using the pad and the EQ switches and daisy chaninig from one channel to another can yield a lot of hues to the sonic spectrum.

It is built like a tank and their customer service is the best I have ever encountered. If you email Sebatron you will most likely hear back from the man himself. FWIW, I had a problem with my preamp (minor actually) and decided to send it back for a check up. The total time for sending and return was less than two weeks, so being in Australia is no problem with great custmer service.

But the bottom line is that it sounds great and is totally it's own thing.
You can't go wrong with a Sebatron, you just can't.
Based on what you're looking for, a preamp to compliment what you have, I believe it would be a great choice and I give it my highest recommendation.

Just to add a bit. Presonus also has absolutely wonderful customer service. Over on gearslutz there are a couple of tech guys that have given out their direct lines and have been helping anyone out who needs it. They've even helped a few guys that had out of warranty stuff and one guy he had his mp20 second hand and they still fixed it. There was even a thread where a couple guys chimed in to say they had LED's go out, the guys at Presonus said no big deal and shipped out replacements immediately. I wouldn't have expected service like that from a prosumer company.

I wish their Australian distributor was that helpful.
One of my best mates is a Presonus dealer. (that's how I've been able to get hands-on experience with some of their gear)
He put a DEQ624 in his live rig and it was so noisy it just couldn't be right. He sent it back twice and they returned it saying it was within spec both times. He had to threaten to stop selling their product before they'd send a replacement, which was much better, but still not fantastic.
Anyway, we've been using it for about 12 months now. One knob has fallen off, and both of the gain reduction LEDs have come adrift and fallen away inside the unit.
