Those are topics worth talking about, for sure. Lots of us "roll our own" vs. farming it out to a third party. (I do my own up to about 500 copies, after that, it's not worth it....we use Discmakers for anything larger..)

I get labels, inks, paper and blanks from a separate vendor as well. It's cheaper in bulk, and beats the hell out of any Office Max or Staples marked up products.

We have a four-bay duplicator that's run by hand, but those automated units by Microboards and others look tempting. Prices are finally coming down on 'em, too. (EVeryone swears by Plextor for CDroms & Burners. My duper tower came with Liteon, which isn't bad, for the $$$).

We have 6x6 and 6x9 heat-shrink bags we use for CDs and DVD cases. It's a small investment to buy a sealer, heat gun and 1000-2000 bags for small orders. It always adds a nice touch to give clients their orders - even the short ones of 10, 25, 50 - in shrink wrap.

Drop me a note if you can't find any other info about this on google, etc. or here on the forums.
