i got a 609 a couple of years ago as someone told me it would be a sort of a remake of 409...
It' s absolutely not true. I had a chance to try 409 on a guitar amp and it was amazing, better than sm57.
Now i have a 609 but it's a second choice mike, i prefer all the way sm57.

609 is rounder and fuller than a 57, but with less bite. Personally I like it. It's not the same as the 409 (which was of course hand made) but isn't too far removed to be of no use. I have a pair and when i use them guitar players always ask about them after the gig.
