Hello,
I'm looking for information about solid state and tube technology in mics and preamps. I'm trying to get a basic understanding of the two different technologies and generally how they effect sound. I'd love some feedback or some book references.

If a circuit is designed properly it shouldn't really matter whether it uses tubes, transistors, op-amps, or little mice running around inside an exercise wheel. :D
Unless a circuit is made "colored" sounding on purpose, the differences between tube and solid state should not be apparent unless you drive it into distortion.
