Don't be a frickin lazy ass. Don't look for shorcuts. Don't come here or anywhere else and expect to be handed on a platter all that you need to know and do.

Use that internet connection and google your way to finding the topics and learning about the basics of what it is your trying to achieve. There is a search engine here. Use it. Browse through past postings and read, make notes, then go apply what you learn.

Ask a specific question and your likely to get a specific answer.

This isn't a game. You either take the time to do it right, try to really learn and getting something out of your time and effort to do the best you can, or don't bother and cheat. Find a patsy that you can pay to do it all for you...

i would like to thank the last user for his comment. Not quite the info i was looking for but to clarify... thats the equip we have to work with, and have worked with, and i was looking for info on if maybe we need better equip in one certain place, or just some helpfull advice.

Ouch! You know what, you're absolutely right. Sorry for my dumb ?'s as well. I feel stupid having to ask. I'm finding the use of this site each day. I guess in the beginning I figured I could just ask and have all the answers. I realize and respect the fact that the people here have taken the time to learn by trial and error and now are sharing that knowledge. I appreciate it. Like I said, I've learned so much from backreading and reading different links. You guys rock...thanks for time.

Thanks a lot Gdoubleyou, that helps a lot, we have some shures and Mark 2's haha. Im currently looking for a hook up on some better mics.
ill look into that, we have the Audigy where we prac, and I just installed a sound blaster live.... a lil outdated... but it works fine with ins in, mon send to the card....

im still brand new at this, but that doesnt meen im not workin my ass off looking for help.

Don't be afraid or hesitate to ask questions. Just don't expect to get all the answers you need to know all at once or in one posting. To really learn and get the best results requires more effort on the asking persons part than just asking general and often non specific questions.

is recording something you want to get into, or do you just want to get by and graduate? i doubt whoever runs your senior project requires you to start a pro studio in order to graduate. you could get by with what you have without a problem at all. go pick up a copy of "home recording for dummies" at any bookstore for 20 bucks. its no info you can't find free on the 'net, but it's a lot quicker, you could read it in an evening and have a basic grasp on what you need to do with the equipment you got. but, if you wanna get into recording... read through the forums. the "search" button is your friend, with so many new users comin to the forum everyday, EVERY question has been asked and answered in some form or another. i can feel the frustration of veteran users who are tired of responding to "what do i do" posts. needless to say, i have asked many stupid questions, but i feel that i learn a lot more simply by reading all the new posts every day or so rather than asking for the answers. good luck!

how did you get such a cool senior project? all i did was shadow an electrical engineer and stare at plc panels for a week...

Our first big problem is mic levels thru our Behringer for Drums. Were not so worried about any hiss, or extra noise.... its just the snare, toms, bass dont come in right.

I understand no one is going to tell me the exact levels to put it on, i knoe our Behringer isnt top of the line.... but if someone can point me in the right direction.. id appreciate it.

You need to be as complete and specific as you can to get a meaningful answer. What about the levels. Are they too low, too high? Do you know how to set levels on a mixer? Have you read the mixer manual so that you at least understand what each function, control and knob does and is used for?

Define each problem in specific terms. We can't read minds...

the levels, theyre to distant. weve been messing with the highs, mids, lows... we still dont get a full sound. thats the best i can put it.

were a band who stumbled upon the equip we have... no manuels... weve looked online for dloadable manuels, the Behringer site has only updated ones.

i know i must sound like a complete ass.... because i odnt knoe hosw to word this stuff. but im trying.

Most mixers have the same basic features and functions. Download the manual that appears close to the model you have. It appears to me that you need to know and understand how the trim pot works. It is the gross gain stage and is usually the first top knob on the mixer channel. Read the mixer manual on how to set levels. You should be able to make progress after reading that.
