I have just purchased a new PC with an Audigy 24-Bit soundcard. I am recording vocals thru a pre-amp to my soundcard while wearing the headphones and playing a beat thru Acid. But when I play the Acid tracks back the tempo of the vocals is mildly faster than that of the beat. The two tracks start off together and sound fine, yet as the track goes on it becomes more apparent that the vocals are losing tempo with the beat. I had to make some adjustments to latency when I first installed my programs but I'm not sure how that affects the mic recordings. Either the beat is speeding up on it's way to the headphones, or the vocals are speeding up on the way to the computer? Any help would be appreciated.

Latency
try recording the drum track, then go back and record the vocal. normally this does not occur unless you are running a lot of tracks at the same time, in which case a mix down might be necessary. Also if you have a setting to keep audio devices open, it might be worth it not to check it. I'm not sure what you mean you had to make adjustments to latency but it's not something to change unless there is a problem.
