Right now I use an Audio-Technica AT835b, which is alright but I'm looking to upgrade. I'm looking towards the MKH-Series from Sennheiser. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Chappy,

The MKH-416 is a standard in the video/TV/film industry. You would not go wrong with one of these. For a few bucks more, the MKH-60 gets a lot of good reviews. There are also good options from Sanken if you have even a little more to spend. You might want to call a couple of the pro audio shops for more specific info (Trew Audio, Location Sound, Coffey - Google them for contact info).

Have fun!

the mkh 416 for sure!! it's indestructable, really nice sounding, and ofcourse the standard...The 816 is also perfect, if you can find one, sennheiser doesnt make em anymore (its a longer, hyperhypercardiod version)..I personally don't really like the newer shotguns (mkh70 and 60)..they're really lightweight, wich is nice for booming ofcourse, but they sound less fat, and to me seem to be less cardiod..
scheers.
