What's your feeling on BLUE mics... I notice you don't carry them..does that answer my question?

I put a BLUE Bottle mic in here last year. I started with the stock B6 capsule and later added a B7. Other nice LD mics here include M149, Sony C800-G, Klaus Heyne C414EB, AT4060 w/mods, and M147's.

To me the Bottle is absolutely unique in this collection for the way a vocal track cut on it will sit so nicely in the mix. It has a presence and solidity none of the others match. This applies more to the B6 capsule than the B7, but it's really applicable to both.

Logistically, the Bottle is a royal pain in the ass: it's very hard to place it correctly in many circumstances. For example, a standard mic stand, less boom, can't get low enough to use the mic with singers less than about 5'9" (I'm guessing here). That (placement difficulties in general) represents the one downside for me.

The level of service I've received from Skipper Wise has been incredible. The mic I bought was a B-stock, and from the service and attention I received you'd never know it.

Over the years I have purchased scores of microphones from Skipper Wise, he is without question one of the true class acts in the professional audio equipment pimping community.

As for what I've heard of BLUE's products, many have been outstanding for several applications. BLUE also makes the capsules for several models of the Soundelux line, a line that Mercenary does carry...in other words, I have found absolutely no reason to dislike BLUE's products, nor the people behind the company.

I suppose the reason Mercenary doesn't carry BLUE is more because there are already a ton of dealers, from Guitar Center to good 'ol Nathan. Skipper has never sent us any to try...and frankly, we're all up to our ass trying new stuff...so if the MFG doesn't call us...unless one of us has run into a product during the course of a session, and it absolutely blew their mind...chances are pretty damn slim that we're going to call the MFG. and ask to try the product.

So far, I like what I've heard, though I've not spent an incredible amount of time playing with the mics. You might want to give Nathan a call and have him send you one of the mics to demo...[was I just encouraging his incessant sales tactics on this board? Shit, I hope not...it was starting to bug me].

Thanks for the input on the BLUES...and fletcher I thought that was quite gracious of you to suggest getting in touch with Nathan about a demo mic or 2...I'll do that! I actually have a few items on my gear list to discuss with you as well Fletcher, I'll call up for a chat soon...you actually sent me a demo pair of Royers a while back for a session I was doing with Levon Helm and Keith Richards...they were fantastic and Ive been planning on getting a pair for some time.. ( I guess those bloodsuckers at digidesign have just had a strangle hold on my resources of late!)
