Hi! I'd like to know your comments and/or opinions about the new RME interface. Is it worth 2k?
Thanks!

Dang! $2k.... I've got their fireface800 and it's been good to me, but i was wondering when their next sh*t would drop. Looks like just now. $2k might scare me away, even though I really dig some of their new features. XLR outs on main monitor outputs 1/2 is cool. the digitally controlled output level in half db steps is a really nice feature for consistent calibrated monitoring levels. Way more standalone usefull than the ff800... cool monitoring. Nice evolution. Maybe I'll get one used ;)

There are a couple of recent threads that have discussed this, but not too much info so far. There is a lot of info in the archives on the FF800. No real reaction on how useful all the new features on the UFX are. I've been giving it a serious look, but will probably put my interface upgrade off for a while. I'll be interested in how people really end up using the effects and dsp power.

I have my doubts about USB or if this is worth switching from a FF800. If I was going to take a new leap on any converter, it would have to be more significant than this. But, like you say Bob, not much comparison info on it yet.

If I want a big leap in audio I'm using Lavry Blacks and also looking at Prism. Otherwise, FF800 are the best thing out there for the price. Am I wrong?

Ah... I see this isn't USB? I was thinking about the Baby... I stand corrected yes??

Yeah, the UFX has the option of firewire or USB 2.0. They have been touting the USB 2.0 connection - I guess because it's a new feature. I've read that even though the theoretical spec of USB 2.0 is higher than firewire that firewire usually outperforms USB. I really don't know enough about the detail of this.
