For anyone itching to upgrade, I implore you not to. I want to downgrade because of how awful the new fade system is in PT10. It has completely slowed down my workflow. Whenever you crossfade something you get a doubling effect. Its ridiculous. I can't figure out a way to get around it either. PT9 crossfades were beautiful and effortless. It practically did the work for you. In 10 its really difficult. If anyone knows a way around it I'm all ears. But this is very disturbing that they would allow this.

That's rather odd? One other big selling points on version 10 is its ability to do fades without writing small data blocks of fades. What you might be experiencing is the necessary background rendering of the new version? Depending upon the power of your existing computer, you may have to wait a short while before proper play out can occur? And, yeah, a new version of anything until bugs are worked out and updates are available, you may experience some issues that may require workarounds. I mean to say that Sony Vegas has never had problems with real-time cross fades in all the years it has been out. So maybe you should be using Vegas? I mean the world does not revolve around Pro Tools. And I have as yet to find a piece of audio software that I can do everything I want with. And so there is valid reasons to have more than 1 audio software package. Not having more than a single piece of audio software to work with is like not having more than a single brand of microphone to use for everything. And even though I've done that, it's not something you normally want to do, strictly.

Vegas, Audition, Pro Tools, Wave Lab. Just like SHURE, Neumann, Electro-Voice, Sennheiser.

Its not a rendering issue, it doesn't go away and there's nothing in my task manager. I've been waiting for the new Logic for a couple years now, looks like it may finally be coming once and for all as early as December, as late as March. I want workflow improvements and legit stereo tracks. I have 9 but its so junky to me that I can't use it for any lengthy period of time or for larger projects. But if X is what I hope it'll be, I may very well go to logic again. I love every other improvement in PT10, I really do. Its SOOOO much faster. I feel like I can get away with a lot more processing. The new delay and channel strip are fantastic. I've also noticed 10 draws the waveforms differently, it automatically smooths them. Thats pretty cool.
