In January I have a Folk band coming to the studio..
Ive been doing a lot of listening to help me train my ears soto speak.
But Im looking for Micing technics and a good approach to doing the recordings.
Band consists of
2- Acoustic guitars
1- Banjo
1- Stand-up Bass
1- Flute
and vocals ofcourse..
Any help would be great :D

I need to install a few more broad band defusers and then all you will hear is the room size 23'x16'x7'-3"
I have access to the following mics..
2-Rode Nt5's
2-Sm 57's
1- Nuemann M49
Studio Projects TB-1
Royer R 121

Tracked or all playing together? It makes quite a difference to
Tracked or all playing together? It makes quite a difference to the mic technique - which mics you use for what and where you put them. You may have a problem with bleed from the bass if they are all playing at once, but the thing to do is to work with it and turn it into a "live" feel.
As a first stab, I would use the NT5s on the guitars, a 57 on the bass, and hope to use the R121 on the flute, positioned well out of the air flow, of course. You don't say if there is more than one vocal line, but it still leaves the M49, TB-1 and JM47 for the banjo and vocals.
Always take separate pickup tracks via DIs from the guitars and bass, if they are fitted.
