Man, the demos on this sound sound incredible to me. the feature set is very well appointed. This seems like a great unit for a small studio, or portable rig. I'm very interested in this peice of gear, there's just something about the way those strings sound on the youtube demo...

So does that mean you get the friends and family discount?

good to know youve got some experience with them. The M108's look fantastic, im waiting to hear the new mytek converters, but other than that, i cant find a better suited all in one for me at this point. Any complaints about M101?

I don't know about being a friend, but I've met David when he attended a live studio event I was mixing. We had a chat in the control room where he mentioned his earlier band ThaMuseMeant and his current band, Taarka. I'm sort of in the outer circle of Elephant Revival, which has connections to Taarka.

Well, you can always find a source+mic combo that doesn't work well with some given preamp, but I've generally had really positive experiences with the M101 preamps. "Silky" is the word that comes to mind when using them. Add a couple of "warm" channels and a couple of "edgy" channels and you'd have your bases covered.

Good stuff man. One thing they cited in the description was an ability to handle complex waveforms, which im thinking is why the mid range is so smooth, even at youtube quality via my laptop speakers. i forget if they attributed it to the transformer-less aspect, or lack of capacitors, or what exactly. In an age of Neve clones i give Grace alot of credit for walking their path, while keeping standards high.
