I don't know how they'll work for Dub, but the Bomb Factory (Digi) Tel-Ray and the Line 6 Echo Farm are both pretty cool and simulate vintage analog delay. I'm sure there are others as well.

If it's possible to use a pedal, such as an EH Memory Man, you'll get the best results. You could maybe even be able to get an actual Echoplex, Space Echo or Tube Delay for what some of these plugins are going for these days.

I was hoping Voxengo would have an analog delay, the Vintage Modulator is seems pretty close but I'm looking for that "shing-shing-shing-shing" feedback-band-passy sound like my old Ibanez Analog Delay (with the reddish-orange chassis).

I really should just get a piece of hardware as suggested but software makes me lazy!

Check out the Line 6 Guitar Port. It's the best of both world's and is incredibly useful in re-amping too. The delay's are very cool and the mic simulation program (called A.I.R) is really sweet.

Indeed it is! I just checked it out... I must say I like Analog Delay plugin you suggested more.

Voxengo plugs are usually right on the money but the analogflux delay sounds to my ears like a digital delay with low pass filtering... I wasn't able to get that distant near-infinite feedback shing-shing-shing sound which the old delays did to every sound they were given (one of the reasons digital delays were so welcomed!).

But Voxengo's TapeBus is so damn good, seems Alexi could make a perfect analog delay (if he wanted to, that is).

Hey this thing is only 100$ ....

I've been eyeballing Line 6 ever since I was told by a semi-pro guitarist that they sound great, he swore by it. Now, seems to me guitarists with their tube amps would be the hardest to convince.

The Guitar Port hardware is really just an audio interface (and it seems, a kind of dongle to run the software). I can't imagine using its less than ideal connections and ADAC instead of an Fireface ... but for 100$, my imagination can be convinced : )

Here's what I'm wondering: can you use the Line 6 plugins that come with Guitar Port on already recorded tracks? Or is it strictly applied only to the real-time inputs of its hardware?

The only way you can use guitarport on existing tracks is to run them out an output and back into an input. It's a pretty cool device though for the price, sounds are useable, it's basically the pod but instead of the electronics being in the pod they are in your computer. I've played through it live in church using my laptop, worked pretty well. A real amp sounds better, but it's great if that is not a possibility.

Also, on your original question, check out the kjaerhus free stuff, there's a good delay plugin, also psp makes a lexicon delay that sounds good. Kjaerhus is free, psp is not.
