Testing an AT3035 thru VTB-1 Studio Projects Preamp,
directly to a Pro Tools HD rig, send signal to headphones mix,
and a strange thing is happening:
Vocals are nice warm with tube blend, but at the same time
the voice sounds like is been double, even if taking out the tube blend!
All the cables have been check thru all the chain,
AT3035 is with -10 pad, high pass filter 80Hz ON. I have a couple of VTB-1
and happens with all, also tested with polarity reverse on VTB-1, but no luck...
What I am missing here?
Do you guys know any tests I can do to find the cause?
Any help would be great!
Thanks
;)

No, they are not recorded "double".
They are just in the headphone, and Im using 128ms buffer size
on Pro Tools settings, so latency should not be a problem in this system.
Yep, its latency.... I´ve just tested the same gear with Cubase

I´ve just tested the same gear with Cubase SX3 with M-Audio 1814
and with that firewire interface you can use ASIO Direct Monitoring
button, so the signal passes direct to output.
Voice its clear, with nothing of that flanger effect!
But Pro Tools HD dont have any option for Direct Monitoring,
does it? What solutions? I guess I have to split the source somehow
to recording and monitoring at same time.

Im setting up for a VO as were speaking!!!!
No plugins or auxs routing.
I was able to routing the mic input direct to headphones, this way
it works because the signal does not pass thru Pro Tools mixer.
But this does not make me happy, because as always, I want
to use a sent submix on Pro Tools for monitoring, but I get latency,
a little but still annoying!
How about using a rack headphone amp, and routing the send submix to
his inputs would that help to get rid of the latency, or same thing happens
because the signal is still goint thru the computer?
I wonder...

If your sending a submix to a headphone feed, you must be routing through another track or an aux.
There is a little latency when busing, ADC (automatic delay compensation)
is turned off when a track is in record, there is a way to override this.
Check your manual, its clearly stated, I cant think of it off the top f my head right now!!!
