I am using outboard mic preamps, and I want to be able to split the signal so that one lead goes to the A/D and one to my console for monitoring.

I have things wired through a half-normalled patchbay, and I can easily just split the signal that way, but I am concerned about the quality of the signal being degraded that way.

I definitely want the best possible quality signal going to the A/D's, but also want to be able to monitor directly. Any suggestions or comments on the multing technique I describe?

Thanks!

of course, monitoring from your soundcard would make more sense, cuz you're then listening to how it'll sound like, after you recorded it.. that's what you want to sound good right?

Actually, this is for tracking purposes only (cue mixes), and I need latency-free monitoring for the talent.
