Hey guys, this is my first post here.. seems like a great forum.
Pretty soon I'm most likely going to be moving in to a new house in which I plan on setting up a project studio in the basement. I really want a nice crisp, strong vocal sound with a lot of articulation and punch. I know much of this depends on your mic/pre combination and recording techniques, but I also know I most likely need some sort of vocal booth to achieve this. I also would like to be able to record acoustic guitar in the same space to get the same characteristics I listed above out of the acoustic guitar as well as the vocals.
My question is: does anyone here consider buying a booth a good idea? I am not a wealthy person so money is an issue, and my good friend and his father are actually construction workers so I could theoretically build this booth with their help for much less money. Is there a particular "budget booth" that really gets the job done or would I be better off building the booth on my own?

vocal booth opinion
I helped an old boss of mine who owned a studio build a vocal booth. I also built one for myself in the basement of my parents old house. My vote is do it yourself/help from others. You can have it just the way you want it, build your own acoustic treatment even. Just really research the proper acoustics calculation end of things, think about it all in great detail to avoid issues you may regret when your done. :D
