I am getting rid of this piece of junk! (read earlier post for the full story.)

I would love some suggestions on a very good analog 24 channel recording mixer.

My goel is to surpass Mackie's imperfections, like bad incerts, pres, EQ, alomost everything about this board I had to bypass.

At this time I am concerned mainly with a board that can play my material back, be muted and not bleed thru the main outs like my Mackie does!

I would like better made knobs and wireing, I am willing to getting a used board, but wondering if there is something out there for under $4,000 that can be used to produce albums.

I am not as concerned with the on board mic preamps, but better EQs and genral features of the Mackie is where I am looking for improvement.

The price quote above is not a limit mark, just a starting fee. If I had to I would sell the farm and stretch it some how to $10,000.

Ohhhhhhh Mackie baby, where did you go wrong?

:D

this last one is beyond your target budget, but it sold new for over $30K and was worth every penny. If it goes for $6K, somebody is getting a hell of a deal.

I just closed a deal on a trident 70 (same pres and practically the same eq as the 80) for 9k with a complete recapping/thorough cleaning/replacing whatever chips dont work... ect. So I'll have a kick ass mini trident 80, 25 channel 55 inputs at mixdown console in close to perfect electronic condition for 9k. I know of other people that have gotten way better deals then me. Its all about keeping your eyes open and being able to wait for awhile.

On another note, getting a used soundcraft and getting jim williams from audio upgrades do the master section makes a pretty nice console for cheap.

Hi John,

A couple friends of mine here in Montreal are selling Soundcraft 2400 series console that have been well maintained. They are proper 32x24x24 split studio consoles with integrated bantam patchbays and 6 or even 8 auxes. I cut my teeth on these as they were omnipresent in local studios in the late 80's and early 90's. A remote truck I work in sometimes still has one installed! It's nothing too fancy but infinitely more professional than a freaking Mackie.

I don't think they're asking for a lot of money, especially one of them. And with the actual exchange rate you would get some good buying power here with your US$! The biggest problem might be the shipping costs depending where you are.

If you're interested email me and I'll give you my friends emails/phone numbers. I'll send you my address as a private message.

Eric
