Hey everyone, Just wondering if beat detective is something that comes with the standard pro tools le or do you need the music production upgrade? And also I'd like to hear about your experiences using beat detective (easy to use? difficult to use? Would you be able to live your life without it? etc...lol)
Thanks

I believe you get the single track version included in Pro Tools
I believe you get the single track version included in Pro Tools LE. The Music Production Toolkit and Complete Production Toolkit add the multi-track version.
I never found it to be all that spectacular. Then again, I'm sure I'm not using it to its full potential. I've found the Elastic Time feature to be easier and quicker, especially for slightly out of time material.
yes, you get the single track version standard with Pro Tools LE
yes, you get the single track version standard with Pro Tools LE. I wasn't impressed with it at first, but after I got the complete production toolkit with the multitrack version, it seemed to work much better, but that was also after I read the section on Beat Detective in the Pro Tools 110 book.
I always try beat detective before resorting to elastic audio.
Beat Detective works reasonably well, especially if there isn't
Beat Detective works reasonably well, especially if there isn't a lot of splashy cymbals or open hat stuff happening. However, it takes some experimenting. Good luck if the drummer's foot happens to precede any other limbs, or anything similar to that - that's where you earn your editing money, when it's not just out of time, but the hits don't line up on the original performance...
I almost always have to edit drums somewhat by hand in BD; - but I don't do it that often. And at least in my experience there has often been something weird that happens if you try to take a whole song at once, or too big of a chunk, so I'll go for 8 or 16 bars at a time.

The single track version comes with LE.
I'm pretty sure it only comes with Complete Production Toolkit.
