Years ago, I helped a guy build a studio in his barn in Ambler, PA. I did a little web searching toady, and found a reference to Bill as a senior design guy at Ensoniq. I'm not sure if he still works for them, as I understand they were taken over by Creative Technologies.
Is Bill Mauchly a member here? Do any of you folks know him personally? I'd like to say hello.
Thanks for any help you can offer. Like aviation, this is probably a small world, so I thought I'd ask.

Good call on your part!
Dr. John Mauchly and J. Presper (Presber?) Eckert were the vacuum tube computer guys at the Moore Engineering section at the Univ of Pa. They built Eniac, and later in life Dr. Mauchly foremed "Dynatrend", a company that attempted the first computer guided stock trades.
Bill is Dr. Mauchly's son. I had the pleasure of knowing the older gentlemen before he passed away, as his son and I built a recording studio and worked in a band back in the 70 's in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
I located Bill the other day, living outside of Philadelphia. He was a design guy for Ensoniqe, which apparently tanked several years ago.
Thanks for the response. I now return you to your normal programming.
Hi Art, I sold a Fairlight CMI to a Bill Mauchly in Ambler Penn
Hi Art, I sold a Fairlight CMI to a Bill Mauchly in Ambler Pennsylvania in the early 80's, and I was working with Keith Emerson in the Bahamas when I received a call from Jeff Harris at the Village who asked me to get in touch with Bill to see if he would be willing and able to drive it up to Madison Square Garden that day to lend it to Geoff Downes of YES who had experienced some sort of power supply problem with the YES CMI. I would like to get in touch with him again and find out what became of his CMI and also to find out what he's up to these days. Also I recall visiting him with the late Bruce Jackson at some point, going down a tree-lined driveway to their house. I don't recall meeting his father John and was completely oblivious as to his famous father! I am sourcing some instruments for Geoff Downes again, but this time it is for shows down in New Zealand. Small world Eh?

I thought Mauchly worked with Echlin on the first serial computer, ENIAC? They co-founded Echlin-Mauchly Computer Corporation. Probably not the same guy, since he died in the 1980's, IIRC.
