Hello experts,
I am in need of a mixer for a music club. Any mixer would work except in my case we do multitrack live recording at the same time. I have a motu2408mkIII for which to interface to the PC/MAC so it doesn't need to be a digital mixer, but I do want quality, good quality.

Thanks,
John

I need a mixer for a duet performong madrigals. We perform in a club of about thirty people, and we like to be loud, louder than conversation anyway. At least if you wrote something like this you might get some answers you could use. Hard to give any reasonable advice without knowing what type of music, how many channels, size of the room, number of people likely to be present, etc., etc.

jg49 & bouldersound,
Thanks for replying. The club sits 70 people in a theatre style. It's actually a recording studio that I convert for friday nights to have people come in and record live music. The audience pays for the session. The style of music ranges from 70's rock to salsa, all in an acoustic format for the most part. I would require no less than 16 preamps. Preamps are the key - clean and from there some way to get it into the pc (either through the MOTU or direct firewire or some such thing) pre eq not post. I need to be able to mix for the live setting, so eq'ing is a must.

you didn't mention budget but if your thinking around $1800
this sounds like a job for the A/H zed R16
great pre's/e.q's/4 stereo ins+16 tracks all recorded individually and a great live mixer too.
i use mine for exactly that, we record our live sessions..exellent quality.

The MOTU can do 8 at a time analog, so you either need another one, an 8-channel A/D converter or dispense with it altogether and find another solution. A MOTU 24i or 24i/o would do it.

Allen & Heath's MixWizard WZ3 16:2 has direct outs on all 16 channels, and they're pre-eq, pre-insert and pre-fader (though they can be changed with jumpers).

I've used my FCB1010 with my XR18 - I think I had it controlling Group The Loop rather than Loopy on that occasion - but it should work just as well with Loopy. You can program 1010 fairly easily - you navigate to the band/preset you want to edit and hold the down bank button for 3 seconds or so.. then you can select the various PC, CC, and Note messages you want to send. (I usually turn off the PCs and use notes as then I can make "Hold" bindings as well as "Press" bindings.) It's probably good to look at the manual to brush up on the process!!

As I'm sure you know there are 10 banks of 10 switches you can set up.
