Hi all,
Does anybody know whether there are any recommended amplifiers for the Dahlquist DQ-10's?
I've been recommended to try those speakers, but I don't know if the amp I have will do the job... (it's a Quad 520f).
I don 't know if this is the right forum, so please advice me in the right direction if this is not the case :o
It's for use as monitoring in a semipro home studio, not anywhere near a mastering situation...

Hi, As I was recommended these speakers by a mastering house
Hi,
As I was recommended these speakers by a mastering house in California, when I mentioned I had a monitoring problem, I automatically assumed they were pretty standard.
These are hifi speakers and needs a powerful subwoofer and powerful amps to run them. They're also very picky about their placement, you need to find the exact spot for them or else they will sound flat and weak.
As I was trying to find some specs on them, I looked them up at google and I guess I found what I was looking for by reading speaker reviews there.
The amps used were, among others; Onkyo dual mono block power amp rated at 250 watts per channel at 4 ohms, and NAD 3020 as a preamp and NAD 2155s run in monoblock configuration.
My Quad 520 doesn't come anywhere near these amps, so in case I would buy the speakers I also would need to buy new amps, a crossover and a subwoofer.
But as I was reading the reviews, one thing became very clear to me. The culprit for my monitoring situation and- :o . I will try to rearrange my control room so they're seated at least 2' from the wall.
I usually mix at a very, very low level, so I didn't think it mattered that much. But it's obviously a much cheaper choice to move the speakers than buying new ones.
I didn't find any specs for the speakers, otherwise I would have posted them, as it would have been interesting to hear your opinion. They are no longer in production so there seems to be very little information about them. The speakers were manufactured by a company called Regnar: http://
Thanks anyway Joe, and sorry for this kinda silly question :o
