Hey guys, I am trying to find a way that I can set up something to drop a mix onto a CDR direct from my Mixer, w/o running through my DAW. This seems like it should be simple to do, but I can't seem to find anything that can do that for less then $500-$600. any suggestions? cheapest is bestest, and it doesn't need to be fancy, or even great great quality, for this application (recording oral examinations) it is only going to be two people talking. I'm hoping to get this so that those who need to use the board for that purpose can walk in, hit a couple buttons, get their CD and walk out, without me having to be there. Thanks so much,

There are some CD recorders that will allow real-time recording
There are some CD recorders that will allow real-time recording onto CDs through the analog inputs. Once finished recording, the disc only needs to be finalized.
Consumer models usually have SCMS copy-protection, but it sounds like you may not be concerned about that. Pro models can usually switch that in or out.
Consumer models will typically have unbalanced RCA analog inputs, while pro models may offer balanced XLR inputs. Shouldn't be a problem to use either, especially if your mixer has RCA outs tapped from the main stereo bus for a consumer model.
Check perhaps Sony (try Sony RCD-W500C), HHB, and any other consumer and pro-level brand stand-alone CD recorders. Look at music gear websites for CD recorders. (Musician's Friend, ZZounds, American Musical Supply, Sam Ash, Interstate Music, etc.) If they have analog inputs, it's a good bet that they can record real-time to a CD.
Check the websites of major consumer stereo manufacturers that you can think of for CD recorders. (Pioneer, Sony, Onkyo, JVC, Nakamichi, etc.)
