The biggest part of the curve is irrelavent of the software used which is knowing the basic I/0 and how to "virtually" connect and route things via computer that you used to be able to plug in with your hands.

Along, with that is learning the most common "glitches" and how to fix them as many of them apply to all software, especially where soundcards and drivers are concerned. Consider it like cleaning tape heads, and tracing down ground loops. After that it is simply learning the software recording basics. Most of the old stuff applies but its just on a screen now, some have caveats and also many have huge advantages...

The other thing I personally noticed when switching over in '99 was there was a lul in my workflow for awhile. What I used to be able to do without a computer in 10 minutes now took me 2 hours on a computer since I had never done it that way, however once I knew my way around it quickly went the other way. I can do 20 times the work in the same amount of time via computer. Invest a little time in the initial learning curve and you'll be fine...

As far as now and 15 years ago.... It has improved lightyears since then...
