Just wondering how familiar folks are with the Hoontech products--at least this one in particular--from an amateur-use perspective. Overall quality, general impressions, market presence, etc.

Bongo Boy.There have been driver issues with all OS but W98SE (which is why I'm running it on my pc instead of W2Kpro).
If you don't mind running 98,the c-port purrs like a kitty. The functionality of 10X10 full duplex at 24 bit for $400 is pretty good. The two builtin pres are marginal at best.If you turn them way up,they throw a hissy fit.I have several other pres I use in preference to the two on the breakout box.
All that said,I'm happy with my c-port.Here's a [[url=http://[/URL]="http://tom.artistco…"]clip[/]="http://tom.artistco…"]clip[/] I recorded a couple of weeks ago of my band. Not quite a pro rig but definately a step up from the 16 bit card I was using prior.Good enough for a band to do a demo to get club dates.

I've been running the C-Port on an AMD machine for the last 3 months, and it's worked great. The converters are half-decent... Not incredible, but if you know what you're doing, you could make some great recordings.
For some mp3's recorded with the C-Port, go to http://www.sonicmayhemstudio.com
My system:
AMD Athlon 1.3Ghz processor
VIA KT133a chipset
ELSA Gladiac AGP Video Card
ST Audio C-Port
Seagate Barraccudda 30gig drive for Audio
Windows 2000 Professional (with service pack 2)

I don't think the C-PORT DSP2000 (2003/04) drivers work with WIN-XP SP3 or beyond. Only up to SP2 as far as I can tell. I still occasionally use my old DSP2000 thought I should probably update to something new. Just in case anyone out there can't get it to install with Windows now days.
Just a suggestion: You might post this question over on homereco
Just a suggestion: You might post this question over on homerecording.com on their microphones forum. I know Tom Hicks over there has one and has posted some mp3 samples if you do a search there. I don't know if he ever comes here or not.
