I guess this would fall into the "gear" category.
In a recent attempt to run side-stage at a show on Friday, I had a too-close encounter with the horn of the PA during a drum solo. Needless to say, my left ear is now cloudy and I'm hoping there was no permanent damage done. So, better late then never, I've been looking at ear plugs for live use (if my hearing goes, it's all over!). Obviously, I want adequate protection from my PA and still need to clearly hear what's going on. Any suggestions/reviews?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I had a violinist in my band that used these . .http://customear

Hope this helps.
