That is VERY kewl! Unfortunately, it doesn't say if it will work with XP Pro! Also, they don't give any time frame whatsoever on the release of the XP version.
I just want to remove the previously-mentioned balast for a temporary fix to make my PC tolerable til I download Mandrake Linux, find all of the Linux drivers for my components, and get up the guts to try to install it. Windows is such a bloated pig, with all of it's third-rate components, that I just hate using my peecee. All I use it for is games.
Ya know, why does Microsoft try so desperately to shove their garbage apps down our collective throats? You can download any other browser, multimedia app, email client, or Chat client and easily uninstall them anytime you want. Because they're just greedy bastards who make megabucks off of their advertisers, they force their customers to be stuck with their problematic cyber-cellulite. Well, they're not gonna have ol' SOS to spy-on and bog-down for much longer!

Ummm...SOS....first of all...you can remove most of that stuff...the SP1 for XP adds the removal of that stuff...as well as I have a guide for removing Outlook Express and so forth...to be honest it doesn't matter if it resides in the machine for audio...all the tweaks I do are the most you will get out of the OS...and believe me it does make a difference!!
Look on TweakXP.com for some more cool stuff...that's where I found a good amount of stuff to do for XP tweaks!

Just for clarification...
This peecee isn't for audio at this point ... I'm still using Digi001 on my Mac. I just like to keep my puter clean of the crap I don't use, and I don't use MSN Messenger, Outlook Express, Internet Exploder, or the funky download utility, because I use far better alternatives. The less Microsoft-embedded crap, the less chance of something going haywire.
Thanks a lot for the links guys. I'll read-up on it all tomorrow and get started on it. I found a place on the internet to get Mandrake for $12, so I sent away for it, but I still gotta get all of the Microsloth Gobbledygoop out of my girlfriend's peecee. I did the math and figured-out that it would take right about 100 hours to download Mandrake on a 56k modem, so I ditched that idea when I found out I could get it so cheap.
So, in about a week, you'll see me on here bitching about my Linux installation!

Oh, and Gary, didn't you warn me NOT to install SP1 due to some gaping hole it leaves in your "back door"? Are you now telling me that it's okay to install it? Or should I go about a different way of removing the stuff that I want to?

No, just staing some facts about SP1...indeed it does create a gaping security hole if you are using it for internet and so forth..but if used for audio you don't need the SP1! Why upgrade security(or lack there of) issues when you don't need to?!!!

As I stated before (scroll up), this peecee isn't currently being used for audio, I'm using it for graphics design and gaming. Actually, I'm on it right now. It's on the internet a LOT. I've purposely not gone to MS Update because of what you told me on the phone.
However, as I also stated above, I'll have Linux on this machine next week. I found all of the Linux drivers for both this peecee and my K6II-500. My XP-flushing concerns are for my girlfriend's puter, which is also on the internet a lot.
OH, ALSO, I ordered Mandrake 8.2 PPC for my Mac! I'm going to set it up for Dual Boot with OS 9.2.2.
Anywho ... so do I have to download SP1 to remove this crap, or is there another way around it? If I download SP1, is there a way to fix the gaping back door?
See ... on a Mac you can remove everything but the very basics of the OS and everything is still groovy, then add your own stuff to suit your needs. I guess I'm just spoiled from being accustomed to a far-superior operating system.
