Didn't you just ask this in another post?

I guess you have to define BEST.

Best overall?

Best for the price?

Best for rock?

Best for acoustic music?

Best for Rap and Hip Hop?

Best software?

Best hardware?

It would also be helpful to know the limits of what you would expect to spend for this device

Are we talking about the "skys the limit"?

1 to 2 thousand dollars

2 to 4 thousand dollars

Over 4 thousand dollars

And when you say best do you mean features, do you mean bang for the buck,do you mean controls and the ability to control it remotely, do you mean quality, do you mean transparency or something that will add character to the sound like a Manley?

I guess we need a further definition of BEST in order to answer your question

Hi!

I produce mostly Heavy, Harcore Bands.

My Gear is: TLAudio Comp, Groove Tubes Comp, (Finalizer but I don't like it for this kind of music) and L2 as hardware. I use the Eqs from Waves.
Your thoughts?

My suggestions would be to audition some really good compressors and decide what you are looking for.

There are many compressors from the Weiss DS-1 to DBX 160s. Everyone has a use but if you are going for maximum features and best sounding only you and your ears can determine what you are looking for.

I like the dbx Quantum II I also like the Weiss DS-1 but I don't have the almost $7000.00 to afford the Weiss. TL Audio electronics makes some good limiters as does Manley (the new SLAM would be great for what you are doing) but again we are talking in the case of Manley SLAM almost $8000.00.

Do you want to invest in that level of equipment and will it pay back in terms of clients brought in and prestige what you have put into it?

Your question needs to be more specific. EXAMPLE I would like to get a new car what is the best car in the world (probably a Rolls Royce) but I can only afford $25,000 so maybe a Toyota Camry would be more to my liking and pocket book.

I think you get the idea.....

it's really a taste thing. I personally love my weiss compressor.

Michael , could you explain that taste ?

Is it good for heavy rockmusic , or rap - hiphop , house techno , or is it better for the classical stuff ?

I'm not so very fond of my Finalizer for classical & mixed (electronics & classical) stuff , like Nitin Sawhney or Faultline, Bjork ...
