whats the best way to provide effects to musicians headphones but i would like to record everything dry.the manual says to not use the effects send when tracking, to use 2 unused adjacent channels.is there a better way .i have the ghost 24le desk and i want to supply up to 4 headphone mixes at a time and every one has different effects{reverb,comression etc} requirements.once again i don't want any!of the effects going to tape.can i use maybe some of the 8 bus arrangement to say feed a headphone amp/mixer w/ inserts. help!

Option 1 - Most desks allow routing of the fx returns. So you could just route the fx return to main stereo only and pass that to the musician's cans. Use the summing bus to tape out to your multi-track and voila! Dry recording with wet foldback. This is the traditonal way, but would only provide 1 mix.

Option 2 -as you say would be to use the summing bus, using one for each headphone mix, but then you burn up your options is you use the bus to tape out as well.

Option 3 would be to use the aux sends to your fx box then back into a new channel. This could be omitted from the main mix so you only hear the dry tracks and then direct out into a headphone amp for your musicians. You also have the ability to monitor the wet mixes by routing the return channel to the main stereo bus.
