Ok so after about a week of reading I still can't decide what to get
I want to improve my sound and I am using the M-Audio Firewire Solo and the AT3035 mic on my iMac

So I am undecided between the ApogeeDuet 2, RME Babyface, usbpre2, and the Focusrite ISA One Digital.

I really like the Focusrite ISA but I am afraid that if I use the firewire solo with it, It will sound like crap. Which one of these do you think would get me the best sound. Im probably going to get the SM7B later and I only need one channel because I do commentary and rap vocals.

Someone please guide me in the right direction because I have no idea what to get and still have no idea what i should buy to improve my sound.

So thankyou in advance I appreciate all the advice! Thanks

The audio channels of the RME and Focusrite units are in a higher league than those in the other two units. The ISA One Digital has S/PDIF, AES/EBU and ADAT outputs, whereas the others all interface directly to a computer via FireWire or USB.

As we have mentioned in replies in your previous thread, you can use the M-Audio Firewire Solo as an S/PDIF interface to connect the ISA One Digital to your computer without it having any effect on the audio quality. A standard 75 Ohm RCA phono cable is all you need in conjunction with the Focusrite S/PDIF 9-pin breakout cable.

There is nothing wrong with your current gear. You don't quite understand how to properly set levels. And you would probably do well with the SM 7B. Better than any A T condenser microphone. Rolloff on, presence switch engaged. And if necessary you may need to engage a pad switch on your current preamp/computer audio interface. That's how you make it sound good.

You've got the right idea.
