Thanks for the responses. I'm using a Tascam US 428 with a P III @ 1133 mhz. The memory is 512 MB. The mother board is an AZUS. I had OPUS 2000 build me this custom DAW computer.

I get short bursts of audio noise and the red led that indicates the hard drive is working lights up for short bursts.

I'm using Cubase SX and Reason. My power is fine, but I'm wondering what could be happening. Sometimes if I move the mouse, it does it.

It seems like there is a problem with the processing.

Until Gary gets here, I'll take another stab at it, ;)
OK then...
If your gut feeling is that it may be a processing problem, then you may be right. Lets take a software approach.
It may be a system driver issue.
I would try updating drivers from Tascam and Microsoft in that order.

I have this problem on my composing computer, and it also happens when I move my mouse. I have Reason, Sonar, and a line 6 guitar port installed. I also use an optical mouse. I suspected that this may have something to do with it but I dont have a roller mouse to check it with. If anyone can check this, PLEASE let me know what happens.
