I know know...Too much information right? But holy leaping performances batman!
Couple of things are doing this for me...
One, the new 3.06Ghz CPU is shipping!
Two, PC3500 DDR from Geil is amazingly fast! It's blowing RDRAM out of the water!
Three, Granite Bay chipset boards are coming out late November, early December.
I found my new forum to peruse and drool on...
http://www.hardforu…"]My new home[/]="http://www.hardforu…"]My new home[/]
There are sooooo many facts and posts about everything and anything here! I'm going to be reading till my eyes drop out for sure!
There's someone on that forum that is beta testing the new Asus P4G8X board there and basically stated that RDRAM is now officially dead due to it!
Hee hee!
X-mas bonus money? That's going towards the NEW ANUS!
Yup you got it . this will be somewhat of the new ANUS system:
Asus P4G8X(Granite Bay chipset with Dual Channel DDR Support and 8X AGP)
P4 3.06Ghz
1GB PC3500 DDR 333
Matrox G550
Seagate 40GB OS(quieter than Maxtor drives!)
Western Digital 120GB JB Model drive(s) for audio
Win XP Pro
400+ Watt PSU
Phillips CDR/W(because they are cheaper than PLEXTOR and just as reliable!)
Any questions?

This "Serial ATA" thing seems to be in Limbo. All of the new VIA KT400-based motherboards have serial ATA as a major-selling-point-option, but there's still no drives to use it with! The nForce2 boards are just now starting to hit the shelves, and they, too, are boasting about serial ATA. LOL ... cart before the horse syndrome. After all this hype and waiting, it damn well better be GOOD!
OH, and speaking of nForce2 ... you guys should look-into what one of these things can do with a new Athlon XP 333fsb CPU and two 512Mb sticks of CAS2 Corsair DDR.
Gary, I went to HardForum, signed-up, and posted a couple of times. Looks pretty kewl!

SOS....Forget about AMD all together man...the posts regarding the scores on the 3.06GHz CPU's with Hyper Threading On or Off are blowing the XP 2800's away!! I mean...BLOWING THEM AWAY!!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA!! Can you say BUH BYE AMD?!!!
You better learn to say it! lol :p
Yes, that forum is awesome...just be careful what you post over there...those guys will eat you up like a breakfast bar for fun! Those are some serious cats over there man.

Cool! I think I'm gonna wait on those as of now...As I mentioned
Cool! I think I'm gonna wait on those as of now...As I mentioned I will be waiting for the new Asus Granite Bay board to be out as well as the 3.06Ghz CPU's...Googlegear has the 3.06Ghz cpu with Hyper Threading technology but it's 690.00 bucks as of now...that will come down in a week or so to about 500.00
Most likely the Asus board will be around 200.00 or so...hefty expensense but everything else is dirt cheap..especially DDR!!!
77.00 bucks for 256MB of PC2700 DDR333...4 of those for 1GB should make for an amazingly fast system!!
I just Overclocked my 2.0Ghz to 2.56Ghz...holy smoking systems batman!
I have a system here at work I'm building for Berklee College of Music..
Asus P4PE with a 2.8Ghz CPU and 1GB DDR PC333 PC2700...I got to see what that sucker can go to!!!

Hell yeah!, been following that forum for a few years now. Only lurked(didn't want to be anyones breakfast) :p I've really have had my fill of technology lately though, mostly concentrating on my guitar playing these days!
There used to be a dozen or so leading edge hardware sites, but I got tired of it and decided to just hang here. Itsa nica place!

Bill
They're going with the Native Tools system which is with the 9652 card. They actually want two 9652 cards in there so they can get discrete 32 channels in and out with two AD and DA-16's!!!
Don't know much else than that really!
I just deliver the pizza.....

yo opus,
I read in http://www.overclockers.com that the geil's are made with lower quality chips(slower) and that they are over clocked to get to that speed making them a bit unstable while the samsung rams are more stable. Any thoughts on the two?
Well, for Overclocking...yes. You want the most reliable chip yo
Well, for Overclocking...yes. You want the most reliable chip you can get for memory. Samsung is the memory of choice for overclockers.
Kingston is fine as well.
Geil is cheap for a reason but for a non overclocking system I'm sure it would be killer!
Otherwise I don't recommend them..I was just having fun with the fact that they were cheap and fast! lol

What about the serial ATA drives coming out? I would guess the P4G8X will support them since the P4PE has optional support. 150MB/s data transfer with this first generation, faster speeds to follow. Sounds good to me but I haven't seen anyone even mention it here except for me. I'm curious what your opinion is, master Opus. Isn't that a 50% performance boost over the WD JBs?
