I got chatting with a Digidesign employee yesterday and we got discussing how long it will be before Logic announce support of the HD system.
The last time we spoke about this the time frame was a little hard to swallow, but now he says that Emagic don't think there is any call for them to upgrade Logic for Pro Tools HD support!
Is it only me or does this seem insane, has anyone heard any rumours to support this or contradict it? I have two Mix Plus systems that I'm itching to upgrade but I am now in limbo as to what to do! I have several projects that I want to mix in 96Khz.
If Emagic truly believe there is no demand to make Logic HD compatible then they could be forcing my hand and I imagine many others that wish to upgrade to HD to move software! Not a decision I will take lightly I assure you!
If you have an opinion either way then please feel free to chime in. :td: :tu:

In my experience, at least in the U.S., Emagic has been extremely motivated toward helping their "high-end users". Greg Tease, Bob Hunt, and others, have always gone way out of their way to help me and many other musicians/producers/engineers both in the New York and Los Angeles areas.
Sometimes it seems that management in Germany has priorities other than the needs of the high-end pro community here; so be it. Whether we like it or not, the small percentage of Logic users who can afford and need ProTools in the backround probably doesn't account for a significant portion of their sales.
Don't get me wrong. Logic Audio as a front end for Protools hardware has been and will continue to be my main instrument for quite a while. I also hope like hell that I can continue to use it as both my and the music industry's needs and standards move forward.
BTW, I have heard that Logic will be supporting HD. Whoopie.

"ProTools HD support is underway
April 5th 2002
Earlier this year, Digidesign presented Pro Tools HD, a new generation of hardware for high-end customers. As many of these customers also use Logic Platinum, Emagic will develop a special extension as quickly as possible to support sampling rates up to 192 kHz. In addition, the PTHD Extension will offer an extended track count and expanded I/O capacity, as well as support for the new, high-resolution audio interfaces and peripheral devices. The new TDM II architecture will be supported by the PTHD Extension as well, which will allow much more efficient use of the TDM timeslots.
After the release of Version 5 for all Logic variants and the release of our new software instruments, the Pro Tools HD Extension will be available in the second quarter of this year at a recommended retail price in Germany of 449,- EURO. Please check with your national Emagic distributor for local pricing and availability. The PTHD Extension can only be used in conjunction with an installed Logic Platinum 5 for Macintosh."
Hey Jules, Oh yea you can use LogicControl with TDM in Logic.
Hey Jules,
Oh yea you can use LogicControl with TDM in Logic. I have 32 faders running a huge TDM rig and Native rig at the same time. Awesome! Since I only use Logic and not PT software, and Digi wouldn't let ProControl talk to Logic, I sold PC, and now use LogicControl exclusively. Logic's new automation is fantastic and ALL TDM plugins are so well implemented automation wise that it's a joy to automate with the Logic Controller. Anybody that loves PT really needs to check out a TDM equipped Logic System with the controller and a great operator.

At a Digidesign HD demo day at London's Sony studios, Digidesign when asked on Logic & HD - said that there would be an "announcement" from Logic at the Frankfurt Music Messa.. I didn't like the sound of "announcement"
The Music Messa has passed.. what is the oficial line from Logic? From Digi? A battle or non agreement / communication between them would be a drag for the end users....
