First the crowd in the video doesn't sound anything special. Just recording at different spots in the room without changing the mic position can do the job.
But, you could also change the mic and preamp and change the mic position to give each tracks a different texture. (Although you can't do that in a small vocal booth)

What have you tried that failed so far ?

Using samples is another choice. That's what I would be doing.

Also to add to pcrecord's excellent suggestions, you could also de-tune, stretch, use effects etc to emulate addition character.

Use crowd samples and do your own thing.

Thank you for your response. I have tried recording multiple takes from different distances from the mic, but the end result sounds more like one loud voice rather than a crowd effect (not like the hook in the song that I sent, where there is one person but it still sounds like a crowd). Should the raw vocals sound pretty similar to what I am going for in the end, or does the crowd sound come to life during the mixing process?

Get it in the recording process as much as possible is my modo.

Other things you can do is use a room reverb to emulate distances. Try different pre-delay or use a Reverb like Fabfilter PRO-R which has a distance ajustment...

Would you care posting a sample, it would be easier if we here where you are at ?
