Finally got my Seventh Circle Audio kit with the chassis, power supply and 2 A12 pres (like an API 512 sorta). The thing looks impressive and solid. Hopefully I'll have time to build it on Sunday. How exciting!

Stay tuned. .

Got the SC opamps. I had herd that they were just as good if not preferable for some people. Do you think the 2520's are the way to go? I'll have to look and see if there is a socket for them; if so I can always swap out later.
N72's are next for me. Unless I am totally in love with the A12's. But at least two more SCA pres are coming soon after these.
Might have to try the C84 or whatever too. They are really cheap, and I don't mind transformerless sometimes.

i finally am able to do a full recording with my 2 a12s. used them on the live drums, and have been using them for overdubs.

used them for kick (in/out) bass (radial di into the a12 and a d112 into the a12). and for guitars so far (using a 57 and a groove tubes gt55 on a fender deville)

everything has been sounding fan-freaking-tastic.

IIRC, the 2520's will pop right on in to the A12's socket. I, too, have the SC25's, and I am pleased (but have not done a direct A/B to a 3124+ or 512c, etc).

I have 2x A12, and 2x N72. I'm thinkning I'll add 2 more A12's (almost like a 3124), and 2 J99's for one hell of a versatile 2U discrete preamp! Makes a nice compliment to my HHB Classic 80 Pentode Tube Pre and my Brick

I'm working on my N72 right now. There's a bit of a problem with the readings coming off J1 pins 1 and 2. It should be an open circuit/no resistance, but I'm getting very high resistance. The reading comes out around 6.00M Ohms, so I'm waiting on a response to troubleshoot this thing. Shouldn't be anything major. The power supply and chassis are ready to go and I can't wait to start recording with this! My goal is to get two of each preamp...I can always swap the modules out if I need four A12s or something like that.

Yep, I've been posting there for a couple months now. I posted my question last night...or the day before that...I can't remember. I also email Tim today with a more detailed description of my problem. I probably don't have a problem with the module, I'm just getting through the newbie stage of the SCA stuff. I'd really like to order one of the C84s in a couple weeks since the wait time is a month.

Well....they're not so cheap if you buy them assembled (ready to use unless you buy them separate from the rack; you'll just have to plug them into it then). Not too bad, but if you want assembled pres I would almost recommend getting an OSA/API kind of lunchbox. That way you could use API compressors/EQ/pres down the road when you have the money. There are a lot of API-card compatible pres. And you won't have to wait 2 months for them.

But SCA does have a good variety of preamps that are compatible with their rack.

Still haven't had a chance to get mine built, but I'll chime in about the sound when that happens.
