Hi BluTonez, older motherboards have a 127gb limit, ie. can onle address the first 127gb of larger hard drives. You can probably get a BIOS update from your motherboard manufacturer's website, that will fix this. You will probablt need to re-format once fixed, so backup your stuff! Do a google on 127gb limit for more information.

A bios upgrade may not fix your problem. You may need to purchase a PCI card to provide you with 2 more IDE ports that will accommodate 4 more drives. These optional IDE cards typically will give you the ability to install this drives that are as big or bigger as you describe. You may also need the NTFS file format that Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro utilize. The additional card will set you back around 40 dollars US, average at your local computer store.

Good news guys. i have all the memory from the hard drive now. Windows partitioned it when i installed it. I deleted it and reinstalled manually setting it up.

I am going to use that drive for recording and playback for my daw's .wav files. I have been looking at these forums for some time now thats where i got that tip.

One other question tho. If my computer so happens to crash will it mess with the slave drive also?

Generally no, it should not screw with the data on your storage drive. You won't necessarily be able to access your saved files until you get your system disk/operating system operational again.
