I came across this article on EQ (while searching for another on phasing issues) and I thought that it was pretty good; well explained, clear and practical, and I thought it might benefit those here who are new to audio production.

edited/added end note: I like SOS - I have for quite a few years; they tend to be more honest than many other audio publications, in terms of cutting through the promotional crap and maintaining a pretty decent unbiased perspective in their articles and reviews.
