This is a message to all my fellow recording enthusiasts!I am running a Logic 5.5.1 windows setup with 3 Maxtor 10k atlas 30gig scsi drives 1UADcard and a complete Frontier design setup 2 Tangos and one rme-ADI-8DS converter into a LOGIC CONTROL .My question is what the consensus on the Tascam dm24.Im thinking of getting a digital board and moving away from the Mackie 24/8 console has anyone had any pro activity on this console and in its price point would it be a wise purchase?Ive heard the board sounds great in fact on numerous occasions ive heard some say they like it better then the old Yamaha-o2r.any answers.
Thanks
Robb

The board does sound good for it's price. If you are going to use the mic pre's you may want to get the $250 modification. The stock consoles have no gain, until the pot is almost wide open, and then it is not much. So Tascam recommends taking up two channels, to gang another mic pre for more gain. What a crock of crap! So, they did come out with a mod, that addresses the pot problem, but not the gain. You had better use outboard mic pre's.

It is what it is.

Yo! man the DM-24 is a great investment for the money. I sold my O2R and replaced it with the DM-24 and as far as I am concerned, made the right move (sonically).

The mic pres are cool, as are the A/D's, but I have heard better! I would not agree with the modification to the gain because in use it's cool.

The great thing about the desk is it's flexablity you seem to be able to send anything anywhere. The bad thing is that if you use the higher frequency modes the facilities are effectivly halved! Also when clocked to my Rosendahl nanosync or internally the sound seems to be smoother when set to 48khz (May be me?)-

Hope this helps!

Hi LOGIC LOVER !
Your question is as though "gone out true my mouth". My configuration is based on PC- P 4 on 2,5 GHz; 512Mb two chanel RAMBUS ; one 80Gb and one more 40Gb IDE HDD ; DIGI 9652 Hammerfall soundcard ; UAD-1 ; Fostex D-160 hard disc recorder ; Mackie 24/8/2. I'd like to ask everybodye, is the DM-24 the perfect mixer to my studio for recording or i must to think about another one. Now i try to change D-160 with HD-24 of Alesis /i wont 24 bit resolution yet/.

Thanks a lot !
