I'm looking to buy a new mixer to replace all my old crap, Basically a mix between live/recording is what I'm aiming for. I've working with a lot of different Mackie boards and I've got nothing but praise. But I've been tracking the Peavey 16Fx and Dual USB 2.0 would be much easier than the Firewire since my DAW only has USB 2.0 ports. Does anyone have any experience with Peavey is it any good, does it have a good clean sound?

yo get one of the mackie onyx setups! it'll be more expensive than a Peavey, but peavey doesnt even make anything close to what the Onyx will do for you.

it's great for live sound because the mic pre's are sweet.
it's got a firewire card so you can stream each input (as a separate track) to your computer and remix in a studio setting later.

otherwise you could get one of those peavey usb mixers, but i dont know much about them.

Yeah, they do, and I can't say enough about the mackie onyx boards with the firewire addon. The pres aren't too bad, and the whole system just does good things. Although, if you're adding a firewire card too, make sure to check with the manufacturers of whatever ADC you end up getting to confirm that the chipset on your firewire card is compatible with the ADC you've bought. Case in point, MOTUs and the Texas chipset. Just a mention,

Nathan
