I am currently using PT7 and looking for a Digital control board. I have looked at the Control|24, however, it is dated, but inexpensive. I have been reading on the new Mackie Digital X Bus, and I am interested in it as well. It runs at retail, 4k more than the Digidesign, however, it has 2 15" touch screen monitors built in. Anyone have any thoughts about a great control surface for a home studio that has all of the mixing capabilities on a quality level? I also looked at the Yamaha Digital CMc7? or something like that. Any input would be appreciated.

Have you considered the now discontinued Mackie D8B???
They are going for 3K to 5K used, and V5 upgrade has the HUI
mode added.
The Control 24 is a control surface, witha seperate mic input section, and a small 8 bus mixer for input only functions.
If you just want a control surface, look into the Digidesign Command 8 under 1K street price its a great "mouse"

from what i have seen it should be compatible....check here, says it uses the same profiles as the Mackie Control Universal and the Mackie HUI which are both compatible.

Thanks to its integrated Mackie Control Universal protocol, the Digital X Bus can seamlessly control the DAW software listed above. Better still, the console can be flipped into software control mode with a single button press. In this way, you can place the Digital X Bus at the center of your DAW-based studio and have the best of both worlds, hardware and software.
