Hi Guys!

I have a small home studio and are recording demoes for our band..
But when I try to burn the CDs I have problems to get the level up high and the final result to sound real tight...
My question to you guys ...
1. Should I buy some software ( wavelab or soundforge )or is there any out board gear for a reasonable cost.
2. What are the first small steps that I could do to improve the result. My guess is that its a lot about compression and EQing...I got 2 SSL mixbus comps and an calreq para EQ and some 1176 is on its way...Should I use the out board I got or should I buy any software to do it in the computer...

I am a DIYer som maybe there is som good mastering outboard that is buildeble...
