Actually for a DAW it's recommended that you disable it. Hyperthreading doesn't play well with audio programs.

Thanks for the response. Will turn it off and see how everything fairs...I guess a lot of the fancy stuff they are placing on the mobo's aren't all that great for a DAW as they may interrupt steady power flow for the sake of increased performance?

Hyper-threading is really more designed for multitasking operations so you can process a file while you're typing a document kind of thing. With DAW's you're pretty well doing only one thing to a bunch of tracks all at once. So instead of dividing up your core to do a bunch of smaller tasks, you want the whole core to work on the task at hand. That's not really a good explanation but it's the best I can come up with. I'm sure someone else will come along and correct me soon.

Thanks for the insight. Since disabling Hyperthreading and some of the other 'advanced' features of this mobo, I've noticed a nice increase in performance and stability.

What advanced features did you disable? I have an Intel P4 with HT and I had some performace problems

Well within the bios setup, on my mobo after pressing (delete) during boot-up, I press and and I get some additional bios setup options. After trying to understand some of the additional features, memory boosters, chip management, etc., I simply started disabling the things that really seemed questionable and re-booted to ensure the effect.

This process has led to my daw to becoming extremely stable and having noticeable performance gain.

I guess what I'm saying is some trial and error. Just make note of what your doing in the bios and if you really don't know what it is or does research it. A lot of things are power management which shift the power from one thing or another.
