It's tentatively called THORAX V5.0.
It's part of the THORAX series which originally started as the VMPC-220 .
Then the VMPC-240.Then went from Blue to Black ...

Yes there are quite a few upgrades/changes....

For starters ,, I've eliminated the Passive front end circuitry and added a two band parametric located after the preamp and before the compressor..

Dropping the Passive front end EQ means there is more gain in the Preamp section.
The Colour control is now fully variable and controls the interstage
dynamic between the two triode stages in V1 double ganged with the cathode return of the second stage and hence has a wide range of control..from clean to beyond coloured.

There is also a -15db pad around the very first gain stage that controls negative feedback...Output impedance of the input tranformer is also higher yeilding more mic gain.

The next stage is the Class A two band Parametric EQ.
High Voltage transistors are run on a +60 Volt rail in Class A mode.
The first band is +/- 10db of 60hz to 220hz and 200hz to 800hz in two ranges.The second band is +/- 10db of 4khz to 22khz.
The upper band also has a variable shelf/bell shape control so you can
fine tune silky top end if you need to or have it broad and unobtrusive..

The optical compressor follows with an upgraded response curve
both in time constant and compression depth.
The tight switch selects between approximate peak/RMS curves
although I've pushed the boundries of both a little
into what I feel are more musically flavoured frequency
dependant reactions.This is also governed by the fact that the lowest
Bass frequency encounted defines the fastest attack time
setting to prevent detector retriggering.

The meters are Oval shaped with a blue back light.
I'll have some 'Teaser ' shots up in the pipeline shortly
along with some other Sebatron products that are being prepared for production...
