Over the past couple of years, I've posted various tracks/videos of the recording of my fourth solo album. The album is finally going to be released and I thought that I'd post the final track/video.

The album was produced in my home studio over the past few years notwithstanding COVID playing a huge part in slowing everything down. I intend to release it on all streaming platforms as well as releasing a limited run of CDs.

I'm in the process of putting together a video showing the recording process of some of the tracks etc.

This song was written by my good friend Dave Sharp.

Hi Peter,

I think this has a very David Gilmore feel to begin with, imo, and I really like the transition into more of a prog-rock feel. Great guitar tones and drum sounds. Like the guitar -- looks like a Les Paul but I think it's a Tokai "love rock" (I had to google it)? I wasn't familiar with the guitar but it has a great sound. Are the pickups stock or anything in particular? What amps or plugins are you using?

Keep up the great playing / recording!

Thanks,

Ben.

Thanks for the comments and wishes Audiokid!

benhj, thanks for the comments! The guitar is a Tokai Loverock. They are handmade "Les Paul" replicas. I've fiited a Di Marzio Super Distortion pick up in the bridge position. The neck pick up is unchanged.

This is the first album that I've recorded without using an amp. All the guitars were recorded using the Kemper Profiler direct into the DAW. I used my own profiles which I created using my Marshall JCM2000 TSL rig.

Good job. I'm new to recording and been faced with the question of trying to mic my amp or use some type modeler. You sound great and I love that you recorded it without an amp. Realling nice music and recording.

Just been googling about the kemper profiler. Looks like a really nice bit of kit. Quite pricey though (but perhaps worth it?). I use Bias Amp 2 matched to a VH4 (allegedly) which is pretty good but the kemper sound better IMO. Also wondering about the strymon iridium..

I haven't tried the Iridium but I made a video a while ago which demoed how well the Kemper profiled my live rig. I use a Marshall JCM2000 TSL with an MI Audio Crunch Box live and I wanted the same tone in the studio using the Kemper.

I profiled the amp, cab and pedal using an SM57.

The result was great. Here is the actual video where I compare the live rig to the captured profile. I switch between the two tones every ten seconds.

Great demo -- I seriously can't hear any difference between the two. I also have a JCM2000 TSL but it's been out of action for a few years. If and when I get it repaired I might try doing the same with Bias Amp 2! -- cheers.
