I'm not sure where to begin, but if Cubase recognizes the Motif, then you have to assign it as an input source, so when you strike a key the drum sounds, when you select your input from the dropdown, select the usb port the motif is plugged into.
Cutting out may be a latency issue, try setting it at a higher number, in small increments.
soundproofing on a budget is as simple as making the room as non reflective as possible, drapes, gobos, and anything else that's soft, especially near your recording mics.

Cubase will stop recording but continue to move (play) when the computer has overloaded. This can be caused by buffer size, which also might help with the clicks and pops. Increase the buffer size, I am not familar with Audiobox but the buffer size is most often set in the driver software of the interface. Other common culprits are anti-virus, networking, wireless all of which should be disabled while recording. You should also be recording to a seperate hard drive. OS and software on one drive and recording files to a seperate hard drive.
Does your audiobox support MIDI? Does the Motif? Anyway I am not well versed in MIDI but there is a good site to ask specific questions re: Motif

Well, coincidently I was over at a friends this weekend and he has a Yamaha MotifXS7 with a Lexicon Omega recording interface. Now he has the keyboard MIDI cables connected to the Lexicon and that seems to work in Cubase but he wanted the USB from the Motif hooked up, so we downloaded the driver from Yamaha for USB-MIDI but won't install properly and I have no idea whats going on there....can't get it to install and stop showing up in Device Manager with a flag?....

Any thoughts there???...is this a conflict between the Lexicon, the Yamaha, Cubase, Win7.
He bought this brand new Dell ?# Win7 64bit machine and it's been difficult to re-install his Cubase Studio 4 and the HALionOne stuff.

The Lexicon Win Vista drivers for the Omega seem to be working OK in Win7....but I think I saw like 39-40ms latency and the VST performance meter in Cubase Studio when he plugs in Guitar Rig 4 into the track goes to about 50% load on the CPU, so i don't know if that's good or bad.

And the last problem seems to be when he inserts an instrument track and then loads the HALionOne synth some of the sounds in the pull down menu load and some don't???

There are 3 input channels for the Motif and 7 Outputs channels. I tried to put the input to either 3 of the channels and the output as EzDrummer but it didnt work.
Where would Latency adjustment be? What is Latency?
Any I will try that soundproofing.

My Motif supports midi as does my Audiobox, but I would be pluggin in my Motif via USB straight into my computer. I have the driver but am having trouble setting it up with midi in Cubase (so I would need more help on Cubase and not the Motif because I have gotten my computer to recognize the Motif.)

I will try turning off my anti-virus and wireless network.

I have not tried to do traditional midi, and would rather not. My driver installed fine, if you installed it from Motifator, I think theirs doesnt work. I got mine somewhere else.It shouldnt be a conflict to just install the driver.

Im am listening to music through the Audiobox into my headphones and I get occasional crack. I also noticed that the music played at a lower pitch and was slower. For example, if I tried to play guitar to an A minor backing track, it would sound like A flat minor backing track. Why is this?

In my Presonus gear there is a small icon that appears in the lower toolbar (XP) that when you click on opens and allows you change buffer settings I don't know if the Audiobox is self adjusting. The few forum posts I read on the Presonus site definitely complained about wireless interfering with recording on the Audiobox and I know antivirus does also. You should definitely not be on the net and trying to record at the same time. Yes you should record to your external hard drive and how you do that is when setting up your project in cubase simply put the folder in the external hard drive and all the recording files will automatically go there.

Is this when you are playing back tracks you imported into cubase?

I saved the recording to my external drive and turn off my wireless when I record, it seems to help greatly, there are a few rare pops but not so bad to where I cant get them out of the mix. I got through about 6 hours of recording and the recording quit abruptly only 1 or 2 times, which is a great improvment, but I think it could still be better.

I have Windows 7 and I do not know where to find the buffer settings, it is not in the toolbar either.

It is everything, it seems to happen when the CPU gets overloaded, or maybe it happens at random. I end up having to unplug the Audiobox and plugging it back in.

It doesnt happen often, but when it does it stinks, it only happens through the Audiobox because if I plug in my moniters or headphones directly to my computer it doesnt have a problem. I was using Itunes when it last happened, playing guitar to it.

It sounds to me like you are reaching CPU overload, you may not be able to stream from Itunes thru the Audiobox if in fact that was what you were doing. If you post a question in the computer section regarding this Jack might be able to offer you some insights as to how you can better run this device in Win7.

To control EZ Drummer with anything requires a MIDI connection, EZD doesn't recognize Audio.
It sounds to me like you need some tutorials, I use Sonar, so I don't know exactly what Cubase offers, but I'll bet there's tutes on "Softsynths" which is what EZD essentially is.
Latency is the amount of time Cubase takes to react to a command, or function, such as playing back audio, which puts a strain on your PC, so setting that number too low, can cause playback to be interrupted, and stuttering.
RAM is also a big factor when doing digital recording, so if you have 512 meg or even one gig, that's not enough, and will cause problems.
