I'm planning to buy an imac now... I read that the latest version of iMac has only firewire 800 port and my already existing FP 10 requires firewire 400.
Has anyone any experience of how FP 10 works with the newest iMac?
Firewire 800 will work fine with a FW400 enabled device. There is no issue here. If the FirePod needed FW800 and you only had FW400 it would still work but it would only run at half, potential.
Ok... thanks... this is a pretty important thing to know... since I dont want to change my FP10, but I am already pretty fed up with Windows and want to change to iMac. On the other hand there wouldnt be much logic with the firewire 400<->800 cable if that didnt work... hehe. I've already spent 2 months on getiing my home studio to work and would be hard to stay calm when noticing that my new imac doesnt work with my preamp :)

Yup you'll be fine with the adaptor cable as you've noted.
